An Amazing 4th For NYC!

Invasion of the Pines 2013

The 4th of the year is always my favorite because of the Invasion of the Pines -- best event of the year! But this year there is so much more to get excited about!

In the week leading up to Gay Pride week in NYC, the Defense of Marriage Act, the law that President Bush championed, got smacked down by the Supreme Court knocked it down in a historic decision.

Across the country, and here in NYC, the community was celebrating!

And if that didn't piss off the anti-LGBT movement enough, right on the heels of this landmark decision, Governor Cuomo launched the $60 million tourist campaign I LOVE NYC LGBT. The website provides insight to all the great places to go and things to see in New York state.

Reactions have been mixed, but support seems strong.

So with all this good news and cheer, there were lots LGBT events to choose from, from the parade itself to all the parties.  And of course, my "still" favorite, Invasion of the Pines, which -- for the transgender community -- always starts and ends in Cherry Grove square (though I always remained in the Pines and partied the night away there).

If anyone went this year (I'm still in India and couldn't attend) and what's to have their photos posted, email me and let's get them in the gallery on TGreporter.com, or login to TGlife.com and you can post them there directly.
